#30DayMapChallenge
2025
Ukrainian landscapes & open data
Seven seasons in, and the focus hasn’t changed: every map I’ve made for the #30DayMapChallenge, from 2019 right through to this year, has been about Ukraine and Ukrainian topics. It’s become a long-running record of the country told through cartography.
This year I worked mainly with QGIS, Python, GeoPandas and Jupyter, drawing on OpenStreetMap, UN humanitarian data, ERA5, Harvard Dataverse and Ukrainian open-data portals. As always, my thanks go to Topi Tjukanov for keeping this challenge alive, and to the worldwide community that makes it so inspiring to return to each year.
