Six years into the challenge, map-making has become a genuine long-term project rather than a one-month sprint. What started as a personal experiment has grown into a collection of more than 150 unique maps about Ukraine, and each year still brings new themes to wrestle with.

This year I owe particular thanks to the Armed Forces of Ukraine — it’s thanks to them that I can keep working at all and finish another season. My deepest gratitude also goes to Topi Tjukanov, whose dedication keeps this whole event alive year after year.
